A Word from the Pastor “Go
and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I
have commanded you.” My Dear Friends: The task of the
Christian church is to preach the Gospel for the salvation of all
people. That is the charge we received from our Lord Jesus
himself, moments before He ascended into heaven. He said:
“Go into the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” The church carries
out its task of proclaiming the Gospel in five ways: Adoration,
Communion, Education, Service, and Witness. Let’s
examine the third arm of the proclamation: Education. Whenever the
church sets aside time to study the Word of God for growth in faith,
for comfort in distress, for light in the darkness and for developing
understanding of God and the Lord Jesus, it is proclaiming the
Gospel. Education in the
Word of God equips people for witnessing. Most people that say
they are uncomfortable with witnessing to their neighbor have very
little knowledge of the Bible. Christians are encouraged to read
and to study the Bible because of two essential benefits: first,
the person himself/herself will feel better about life; second, this
person becomes a more effective ambassador of Christ in this world. Education is not
only carried out corporately, in Bible Classes, Sunday School,
Confirmation Instruction, V.B.S., etc. It is done in private,
too, in the quiet solitude of our homes. Pastor Martinho Q. Sander |
